The Golden Knights Will Have The 19th Pick In The NHL Entry Draft

The Vegas Golden Knights were the final team to be eliminated in the first round and after doing so, the NHL Draft order has been set for the eliminated teams leaving the Golden Knights with the 19th pick in the NHL Entry Draft.

The draft is expected to be held on June 28–29, at the Sphere in Las Vegas. Vegas will host the NHL draft for the first time in its history.

The Golden Knights have drafted seven players in the first round in their history. They’ve kept just one of those players (Brendan Brisson) and traded the other six.

The 19th pick will be the highest Golden Knights pick since 2019 where they took Peyton Krebs at 17th overall. It will also be the fifth-highest pick in franchise history.

It’s not a guarantee that the Golden Knights make a selection with this pick. They could use it in a trade to acquire a player that will help them win right now but with the cap situation they are currently in, it might be best to make the selection and look to possibly trade him at next year’s trade deadline.

According to EliteProspects, the Golden Knights have the 29th best prospect pool and The Athletic has the Golden Knights with the 23rd best prospect pool but the rankings were made prior to the Tomas Hertl trade that saw David Edstrom leave the system.

The Golden Knights have multiple players over the age of 30 playing heavy minutes for them. Drafting prospects who could eventually replace those players has proved to be successful for other teams but the Golden Knights have made their own formula for success.
