Las Vegas Raiders signed undrafted free agent the rest of the league just forgot to draft

The Las Vegas Raiders, under the leadership of new general manager Tom Telesco, have made significant strides in their scouting process. Just take a look at their 2024 NFL Draft class-it’s hard to deny that they’re already surpassing the achievements of their previous regimes. This draft class, one of their best in recent memory, is a testament to the positive changes Telesco has brought, and they haven’t even stepped on the field yet.Andrew Coker - Football - TCU Athletics

By looking at where he got each player, the value he got them for, and the fit they will have on the team, you can piece together that this class will be good. But there is more proof that Telesco is already better than Dave Ziegler was.

I believe the Raiders have assembled one of the most promising undrafted free-agent classes. These are players who have demonstrated their skills at a high level and bring valuable experience to the team. In fact, I believe they may have secured the best overall undrafted free agent – a player who was overlooked by the rest of the league in the draft, but could prove to be a game-changer for the Raiders.

Raiders sign undrafted free agent OT Andrew Coker from TCU

The Raiders needed offensive line help coming into this draft. They lost Jermaine Eluemunor to the New York Giants in free agency and decided not to bring back Greg Van Roten. So, they drafted Jackson Powers-Johnson and Delmar Glaze to help the guard and tackle positions.

However, they also signed a tackle who I feel has an incredible chance at making the 53-man roster. Andrew Coker from TCU was a prospect in the 300s on our big board. So, we won’t sit here and act like we would have drafted him or that he should have been drafted early in the draft. He has flaws, but I think he deserved a chance to get drafted.

After reviewing some of his numbers in greater detail and looking at some of the tapes, the Raiders may have gotten the biggest steal of the undrafted free agents.

In 424 pass-blocking snaps, Coker allowed 24 quarterback pressures and allowed one sack, per Pro Football Focus. So, it’s pretty evident that the kid can play.

Coker will be battling Jalen McKenzie and Dalton Wagner for the 53-man spot at the tackle position. I think he can win it out, too. Tom Telesco is doing work.
