Shady Retracts Dak Trash Talk; An Apology?

The Dallas Cowboys are always a magnet for hot take artists in the media, and when said hot take artist is a former member of the arch-rival Philadelphia Eagles, it’s bound to get ugly.

Throughout his post-retirement foray into sports media, former Eagles running back LeSean McCoy has gone after the Cowboys, and especially quarterback Dak Prescott, at pretty much every opportunity. Most notably, McCoy called Prescott “a**” during the 2022 season, and then insinuated that his teammates “don’t respect him” when cornerback Trevon Diggs trash talked Prescott after an interception in training camp.

Shady Retracts Dak Trash Talk; An Apology?

Well, it seems like the Fox Sports 1’s Speak analyst may have had a change of heart. Speaking with former New England Patriots receiver Julian Edelman on his Games With Names podcast, McCoy admitted that he may have taken his previous trash talk of Prescott too far.

“I’ve had some struggles with TV, because I’m so raw and new at it,” McCoy said. “But in all reality, I should have said it differently, like ‘he’s playing like a**.’ Because it’s a lot of a** quarterbacks … I think he’s an average, above-average quarterback.”

McCoy then went on to give Prescott a “compliment” by saying he’s better than two other quarterbacks, those being the New York Giants ‘ Daniel Jones and the Chicago Bears’ Justin Fields.

Since McCoy’s initial comments, Prescott put together arguably the best regular season of his career with 4,516 passing yards and a league-high 36 touchdowns to nine interceptions. He is also a finalist for league MVP and Offensive Player of the Year at Thursday’s NFL Honors.

After another disappointing playoff performance, though, it doesn’t seem like the criticism of Prescott will stop any time soon.
