Giants News: NY signs DL off Falcons practice squad, Mason Crosby also added

Depth for the defensive line is always going to be a focus for general manager Joe Schoen and with Dexter Lawrence a little banged up, the NY Giants surely needed some insurance ahead of Week 16. That’s why the latest front office move made a ton of sense.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers v Atlanta Falcons

In case you missed it, Schoen and Co. signed young defensive lineman Timmy Horne off the Atlanta Falcons practice squad. Horne has only appeared in three games this season for the Falcons, but he could get his number called against the Eagles on Monday if Sexy Dexy isn’t able to suit up.

Dexter Lawrence continues to deal with a nagging hamstring injury

Horne only has four tackles on the season, but he checks in at 6-4, 325 pounds. That’s a massive body for the defensive front Wink Martindale now has at his disposal if Lawrence indeed can’t put the pads on vs. Philly.

The Giants didn’t practice on Friday, but the All-Pro DT was kept off the field on both Wednesday and Thursday. The hope is that he’ll be able to give things a go on Saturday, but there isn’t a ton of optimism he’ll be close to full health even if he is able to play.

Randy Bullock out for the rest of the season, Mason Crosby signed

In another hamstring headache for head man Brian Daboll, the Giants placed Randy Bullock on Injured Reserve on Thursday. With that, his 2023 campaigh has officially come to a close. This comes after the Giants previously saw star kicker Graham Gano go down with a knee injury.

In another turn of events, Cade York was supposed to be the next man up, but he has also been placed on Injured Reserve with an injury. Because of this, Mason Crosby – yeah, the former Packers great- has been signed by the G-Men. Crosby was inked to the practice squad, but look for him to be elevated to the active roster in time for the Philly showdown.
