There will be no discounts for the Jets when Bryce Huff enters free agency.

Don’t count on Bryce Huff giving the New York Jets any hometown discount when he hits NFL free agency this offseason.

The stud edge rusher made that perfectly clear after he finished off his best season with 2.5 sacks in New York’s 17-3 win against the New England Patriots in Week 18.

“I’m not giving any discounts,” Huff said definitively after the win Sunday.

The 25-year-old has set himself up for a massive payday. Huff led the Jets with 10.5 sacks, seven more than he had last season for his previous NFL career high.

Pro Football Focus credited Huff with 60 QB pressures before his big game Sunday. His pressure rate was second-highest at his position this season entering Week 18.

What makes his next contract a bit tricky is that Huff has been a rotational player with the Jets, rarely used in running situations, where he’s struggled. PFF had him graded 83.8 as a pass rusher through the first 16 games and 46.2 against the run.

But elite pass rushers get paid in the NFL. And Huff is an elite pass rusher.

“I owe it to myself and my family and people around me to maximize my earnings,” Huff explained. “I’m definitely open to every scenario and every team. I just want to do what’s best for me.”

Bryce Huff is one of the true success stories of the Joe Douglas Era with the Jets. The general manager signed Huff as an undrafted free agent in 2020 and saw him emerge as a star this season. With limited reps, Huff had two sacks each of his first two seasons and 3.5 last season.

Now it’ll be up to Douglas to see if he can work out a deal to keep Huff in the Green and White this offseason.
