Brian Windhorst Casts Doubt On The Lakers Trading For Zach LaVine: ‘There’s A Zero Percent Chance’

A potential trade between Zach LaVine and the Los Angeles Lakers seems to be all but dead. According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the Lakers are looking elsewhere to improve their roster.

However, this does not mean that LaVine is a surefire bet to stay with the Chicago Bulls passed the deadline. The team is adamant about finding ways to shake their roster up. The Lakers and Bulls have been tied together about a potential trade for much of this NBA season.

“I think there’s a zero percent chance of the Lakers trading for Zach LaVine.”

Brian Windhorst said on the Hoop Collective podcast
As for the Lakers, they find themselves at a bit of a crossroads. They are 11th in a gritty Western Conference with a 19-21 record. Although LeBron James and Anthony Davis have both been exceptional this year, the supporting cast has remained inconsistent.

The team will undeniably remain active around the trade deadline. As it stands, the Lakers will look to add another star that they can add to Davis and James.

“If they could trade Zach LaVine in the next five minutes, they would trade him and Zach would happily go to the airport.”

Brian Windhorst
LaVine on the other hand looks to be a piece the Bulls are actively trying to get off of their roster. Through his 23 games played this year, LaVine has averaged 20.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists this year.

The Bulls have had a bit of a resurgence this year after a very lackluster start. However, this has primarily been off the back of Coby White, who is playing the best basketball of his NBA career. While nothing is guaranteed, both the Lakers and Bulls will look to shake things up.
