If the Giants can not draft Jayden Daniels, they have to draft an offensive lineman

Jayden Daniels’ name has been skyrocketing up teams’ big boards and people believe he has has a chance to be a top-three pick. Especially renowned analysts like, Mel Kiper Jr., believes that Daniels will not even fall near the hands of the New York Giants, who currently hold the sixth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

You are probably thinking – that’s fine we will just take another explosive playmaker. There will be plenty available at No. 6.

But in my opinion, if the Giants do not get Jayden Daniels in the draft, they need to beef up the offensive line. Whether it is with their original pick at six or trading down for multiple first rounders, o-line is the need.

The Giants offensive line has not been good since the Eli Manning era of beating Tom Brady in the Super Bowl. It is the truth, it is one of the Giants’ biggest weaknesses each year, and it’s gotta change. This draft is riddled with offensive lineman who can and will start that season.

But, the biggest reason I believe this is because of the Giants struggles to develop in a consistent system. Take a look at Darius Slayton, fast, tall, and great route running. Slayton has been the WR1 since being drafted in the fifth round in 2019. Slayton was someone no one thought would be greta in the league and he has been average for the Giants.

Yet, the Giants keep drafting receivers, who fill the role of simply nothing. Daniel Jones can not get them the ball, because he has a defender in the backfield almost every time he snaps the ball. Why waste more talents on this crumbling Giants offense? They have Jalin Hyatt, one of the fastest guys in the NFL and they can not even get him the ball because there’s not enough time for his downfield routes to develop.

New York has more than enough money to go out and sign a WR, they need someone who knows what going to happen. In this draft, if Jayden Daniels is not available the Giants need to get offensive lineman, not “weapons”.
